We held our very first Camogie-athon event on Sunday 14th May at Straffan GAA Club.
This was a day filled with fun for all the family featuring sponsored laps, family games, a Poc Fada competition, a targets and crossbar challenge as well as camogie matches. We asked for club members to donate any unwanted gear and ran a pre-loved gear stand on the day- a brilliant initiative organised to give unused gear a new home! There was also a bake sale filled with sweet treats and bakes, generously baked by our club members, as well as a raffle with some amazing prizes up for grabs.
The day was very well attended by underage players, adult players and members as well as families from all surrounding areas. This was a fantastic day for the community of Straffan, bringing kids of all ages together to have some fun and get competitive with their camogie skills! Special thanks on behalf of Straffan Camogie go to all of the local businesses who kindly gifted raffle prizes, a full list of businesses and prizes donated is below. Also special thanks to Straffan GAA for the use of their facilities on the day as well as Castletown Press who supported with all of the signage for the event. We hope this will be the first of many camogie-athons for Straffan Camogie Club!
