Huge congratulations to our U-16 team who succeeded in claiming the 2022 U-16 League title against Moorefield last Sunday, 24th April. It was a nail-biting game with both sides well matched. After trailing behind by 6 points at half time, Straffan fought back to lead the game until a last minute point levelled the playing field just before full time.
The Straffan girls were asked to dig deep once again by their coaches David Behan and Fiona Timmons, as the game was taken in to extra time- a full 10 further minutes of camogie was to be played each half. The Straffan team showed great stamina and resilience and battled to gain the lead in extra time. After some raised heart rates on the sideline and even more raised heart rates on the pitch, Straffan won the game by 3 points. The final score of the game was Straffan 5-05 to Moorefield 2-11. The team was captained by Emer Fallon, who gave a brilliant speech to congratulate her fellow team mates, thank her coaches for all of their hard work and of course thank Moorefield for a great game and the use of their grounds.
A massive congrats to all players and management on this memorable achievement for Straffan camogie. We can't wait to see what is next for this stellar team!
